JUAN MARIA ROMOULDO MARRON

The original grantee of Rancho Agua Hedionda was a California-born administrator of Mission San Luis Rey lands when he claimed 13,000 acres east of Agua Hedionda lagoon in 1843.

SYLVESTER MARRON

The brother of Juan Maria Marron inherited 360 acres along the northern border of the rancho and built a hacienda near what is now Highway 78. Other family members had small haciendas in the same area. Many of their descendants still live in and around Carlsbad.

RANCHO AGUA HEDIONDA HACIENDA

Juan Maria Marron and his wife, Doņa Felipe de Jesus Osuna built this adobe hacienda overlooking what is now El Camino Real.
